Yesterday, Joshua Gilligan Had a Negress Fucked Up, Tomorrow He Will Be Unemployed ^_^

Moral of the story: Leave Me the Fuck Alone. 
Secondary Moral: Don't Start None, Won't Be None. 

It has been over a year and a half since Cassie and I began UN with nothing but our laptops, two pairs of iPhone headphones, and a whole lot of ideas. Since then, we've ballooned into an essential digital lifestyle brand for over 32,00 black women who are seeking a safe place to laugh, learn, and create community. 

One of the reasons that our followers follow us is because they feel safe in our space. This is a charge of responsibility that we take quite seriously, as there are so few spaces in this world where black women feel like they can be safe. It is an honor to provide that space and we moderate and defend it viciously. Although we have around 32k followers, Uppity Negress's Facebook is a fairly small, "close knit" (as close as strangers on the internet can be) community. My interaction, due to Facebook algorithms, is typically comprised of people who know who we are and what our content is about. I pay close attention to who is contributing to the community and what kinds of things they are contributing. If someone is "off code" too much they are removed from the ability to contribute to the community for the sake of safety and comfort of all community members.

However, every now and then we have a post or two go viral and it brings a whole new demographic to UN. Yesterday, that happened with alt-right trolls getting upset about a post I made about the entitlement of white people (which makes what happens next all the more moronic) and a group of about a dozen of them decided to make harassing UN and its followers their pet project.
​They even nice enough to send me this creepy message about it then block me immediately after, i suppose as a fear/ intimidation tactic. It didn't (and will never) work. 
The post in question that I deleted, I deleted of my own accord because it was attracting the wrong kinds of interaction, in too heavy a volume and I didn't feel like I could properly moderate that much negative attention to keep the space safe (clearly a great call by me). 

Many of them (I'd say a good ten) tried to attack my followers in the comments with micro aggressions. I ban racists at the first sight of some nonsense so that was not a successful attack plan. When that didn't work they decided to start by attacking my reviews with negative reviews. 

First there was Jacob. 
Jacob was the first of the racist white men today to try to get the page shut down via flooding it with negative reviews. Joe was dragged and reported viciously and relentlessly for HOURS until either he decided to go and mind his business or facebook deleted his fake review.

Of course, just by the nature of our content, this is not the first time that we have dealt with racist white trolls attacking us or doing so in an organized fashion and so I created a protocol for what our followers should do when we are attacked by racist trolls. The way that facebook algorithms rank bad reviews necessitates for them to be flooded out with positive reviews so that your page isn't penalized and unpublished. We asked our fans for 10 to flood out Jacob and his friend (who we will get to soon) and they responded with over 200!

Around the same time as Jacob, another white troll commented from what was obviously a fake profile. 

Typically, I do not engage fake profiles, I just have my followers report them and move on, but this one was dumb enough to leave enough breadcrumbs for me to figure out who he was and where he worked. He went on for nearly 8 hours with racist stererotypes until I finally revealed to him that I knew his real name- Joshua Gilligan.
​He deleted the comment from his review so that no one could see it so I shared his post to my main profile page of 32k followers, (where he couldn't delete it) and let them know that JOSHUA GILLIGAN was violating Facebook community standards by not having his real name on his profile. At this time, my followers converged on his review letting him know that he was a racist and that he would be reported. Shook at this point, Joshua deleted his review as well. 2 racists down, 1 Uppity Negress still up. 
Even still, that wasn't enough for me. Joshua had the audacity to talk shit behind a fake name and Sean Bean's face and Lord Eddark Stark did not die for that. I found his address. I found his job. I know that his mother is a registered republican and that he lives in her house still. 

I've decided that he doesn't deserve a job working with the general public, especially since some of the general public are black and woman. Joshua thought that it would be a cool, funny thing to spend his off day being a racist and harassing black women for having the audacity to gather in a space that doesn't center him, so I feel that it's only fair that Black women return his favor in kind ^_^. I hope the bros that you donned your racist cape for are going to help you pay your share of your mother's rent, Joshy Boy (please say this like Pegasus from Yu-Gi-Oh).
